On Wednesday, 27 April 2022, the Roztyly Community Centre for Ukrainian mothers and children officially opened in the former Interlov slaughterhouse complex. The entire project was initiated by Passerinvest Group, which purchased the special modular cell system and built the centre in cooperation with other partners. The project was created in cooperation with the Prague 11 City District and the Help Ukraine Endowment Fund. The total investment into the facility comprised of 26 modular cells (the purchase, transportation, landscaping adjustments in the locality, etc.) amounted to more than CZK 8 million.
“Since the first day of the invasion of Ukraine, we have sought, in addition to financial support, another way of helping the refugee Ukrainian citizens. In Prague - Roztyly, specifically in the brownfield site of the original Interlov slaughterhouse, our company owns land on which we will not be building for two years, so we wanted to use this place for possible help. We purchased a ready-made modular set of cells, which was originally intended for Germany as a preschool, and built the temporary Roztyly Community Centre here. We managed to discuss, build and connect everything to the complete infrastructure in record time with the support of the Prague 11 City District. It is not a permanent solution, but it can help a lot in the medium term,” stated Radim Passer, the founder and CEO of Passerinvest Group, a.s.
The Roztyly Community Centre is built from 26 modular cells. The interior arrangement offers four classes with accessories, as well as sanitary facilities, a kitchen and facilities for staff. The capacity of the centre is roughly 80 - 100 children and it is intended for all ages. Clients will be able to find suitable facilities here for babysitting, social and leisure activities with opportunities for education and inclusion in social and support programmes. The location is very easily accessible by public transport in Prague, by the metro line C from the Roztyly station and by city and suburban buses. “We offer leisure and social activities for children, including education, at the Roztyly Community Centre. At the same time, social and support programmes will run here with an effort to integrate the refugees into society. We have an idea of the programme; in any case the operation of the centre will be adjusted according to the current needs of our mothers. I am very glad that there is interest in the centre and we have registered the first interested parties,” added Vladimír Gergel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Help Ukraine Foundation.
"I am very pleased that it was possible to arrange, build and operate a suitable form of this Roztyly Community Centre in such a short time. The development of Prague 11 in the area of the housing, education and leisure of our citizens and now also our Ukrainian fellow citizens in our urban area is a priority. Any such help and support that makes sense is needed these days,” said Jiří Dohnal, Mayor of Prague 11.
Only a few weeks passed from the decision to purchase the ready-made modular system to the opening of the Roztyly Community Centre. This implementation was only successful because a number of companies and institutions, which were instrumental in a number of technical and legislative areas, participated with great enthusiasm.
