Building Budova B in the BB Centrum wins in 2021 CIJ Awards

Budova B in BB Centrum, Prague 4

The office building Budova B in BB Centrum in Prague 4 came first in a prestigious real estate competition, the 2021 CIJ Awards Czech Republic, winning in the Best Legacy (Redevelopment) Development category. The complete revitalisation of the building and its environs, thanks to which it once again ranks among Prague’s category A office buildings, was completed in the middle of 2020. The annual CIJ Awards, which recognise the most important achievements and personalities in the area of development, was held for the twentieth time this year.

The outer appearance and the interior layout of the building were modernised as part of the reconstruction. The building has a new façade in earthy tones, with glass being chosen as one of the essential materials, giving the entire building airiness while simultaneously ensuring ideal light conditions inside. All the technologies providing a comfortable working environment also underwent modernisation, with an emphasis on efficiency and economic operations. The building offers a total of 15,600 m2 of leasable space on eight storeys, an underground garage and also an expansive rooftop terrace with greenery available for the tenants. The author of the reconstruction is the architecture studio A8000 and GRIMM Architekti, the investor the PASSERINVEST concern.

The adjacent public space was also improved during the reconstruction. A new square, náměstí Ellen G. Whiteové, was created in front of the main entrance to the building, with mature trees and benches and secure bicycle stands.  A water jet fountain with coloured lights is also an item of interest. The open atrium/inner courtyard of the building, which offers another relaxation space for the tenants and the general public, also has a brand-new appearance. It is possible to use the nearby reconstructed footbridge over Vyskočilova Street in the direction of Brumlovka Square. The total investment into the reconstruction and the improvement of the public space reached CZK 470 million.

The CIJ Awards were held for the 20th year and they recognise the most important achievements and personalities from the area of development in 26 categories. In the selection of the finalists, their overall benefit to the sector as well as how fair they are in their work and behaviour and their respect for the environment all play a role. The winners of the individual categories are automatically nominated for the 2021 Best of the Best CIJ HOF Awards, where they compete against the other winners from ten countries of the CEE region for overall victory.
